Brian Burnett, Ph.D.
Brian Burnett, Ph.D., MBA, and CPA (inactive), has nearly 20 years of accounting and finance experience. Prior to earning his Ph.D. in Accounting, Dr. Burnett worked for Arthur Andersen and KPMG where he audited some of the largest companies in Orange County, California. There, he developed in-depth knowledge and expertise in financial accounting and capital markets. He continued to deepen this knowledge during his doctoral studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He focused on examining the role of accounting in valuation with a particular emphasis on small firms trading in less regulated markets. His work is well-respected and has been presented at leading business schools and national conferences across the country, and published in prominent academic accounting journals.
Currently, as an Associate Professor of Accounting at Biola University, Dr. Burnett is passionate about passing on his knowledge of accounting and valuation to his students. He teaches financial statement analysis and valuation at the graduate level where he teaches in-depth analysis of earnings quality and state of the art valuation techniques such as Monte Carlo simulation. Dr. Burnett is also an expert in teaching accounting for mergers and acquisitions, which he has taught for more than a decade.
He and his wife, Beca, are enjoying raising their two children in La Mirada, California
